Top Dawgs Fall to Underdogs
Last night was a barn burner when the top
teams in
Division 2 went into action.
The Mason Bulldogs fought off the Greyhounds of Eaton Rapids 40-26. The dual was packed with spectators screaming at Mason High School when Senior L.J Helbig pinned his opponent at 215lbs. I spoke with Head Coach Brian Martel and he said, "There are some things we need to work on but this is where we wanted to start at the beginning of the year." I asked him what do you do from here? "Well it was tough to beat this type of team that is our rival but it is even tougher to stay on top then it is chasing for it." Eaton Rapids line-up did not seem to be at its best, seniors Josh Dormer and Devin Mehiehm did not wrestle do to sickness.
It wasn't only the Bulldogs that picked up a huge win but Greenville dominated in sudden fashion when they upset Lowell in this impressive dual meet. The 7-0 Yellow Jackets upset the #1 team in Division 2 last night 45-15. Last years 103 State Champion Tyler Keselring lead his team to victory with a tech. fall 18-3 at 119lbs. The Yellow Jackets move to third in the team rankings behind #1 Mason and #2 Eaton Rapids. As for Lowell, Dave Dean and his team is determined to get back to Kellogg Arena to capture the Division Two Team State Championship,
